Ship Repairing

This is the most hectic activity at the yard. KSEW has so far repaired over 5000 vessels of which about half were Foreign Flag Vessels. Many renowned Navies of the world and shipping lines are KSEW's regular customers. Modern and well-planned facilities exist in KSEW for undertaking above water & under water repairs of ships and off shore Drilling Rigs.

The ancillary facilities include shore electricity supply at 110/220 V, DC 220/380/440 V, AC 50 cycles, compressed air, oxygen, acetylene gas and natural gas in pipelines and cylinders as well as fresh and sea water supply lines and fire fighting system. A well equipped Machine Shop is in attendance besides other facilities.

Modern and well-planned facilities exist at KSEW for undertaking above water and under water repairs of ships and marine craft, repair of Main Engine & Machineries. Hull Alteration / Conversion is also under taken.

Having repaired so far over 4,300 ships and crafts KSEW has the best expertise in the region. KSEW has the following facilities for repairs:

4.	Ultrasonic Gauging Facilities
	Certified for Ultrasonic Thickness Measurement of Hull Structures & Pressure Vessels etc. for sheets of thickness range from 0.8 to 200 mm. Repairs are also under taken in Karachi Harbour area and at the outer anchourage.

For above water repairs, Quay Walls of 500 meters on the northern side and 165 meters on the southern side are available. Above water repairs for vessels of any size and dead weight can be undertaken not only at KSEW premises but also in Karachi Harbour and even at the outer anchourage.

KSEW carried out emergency repairs on a 250,000 TDW vessel at outer anchourage as the vessel, because of its size, could not enter Karachi Harbour. Similarly any alteration / conversion on hull / super structure can be undertaken. For Marine Boilers, Insulation, Lagging, Flooring & Brick Work can be carried out at the yard. Facilities also exist for repairs of Steam and Motor Vessels both Main and Auxiliary Machinery and all types of Marine and Stationary Boilers.
